Native Bird with Textured Rubbing Collage Background

  • Industrial History Center Mill 2, Upper Millyard (behind 5 Market Square) Amesbury, MA 01913 (map)

Make a bird-themed collage from a collection of printed images of native species provided for you. We’ll create the backgrounds from “frottage” papers that we create at the beginning of the class. We’ll also have botanical images from gardening magazines to enhance our collages.

Frottage is a method of creating a design by rubbing on textured surfaces. We will use oil pastels rubbed on textured plates to create a waxy surface on paper and then cover in watercolor washes to create beautiful patterns. This is a really fun and rewarding process and will help to build your collage paper stash.

Snacks & beverages provided. You are welcome to bring your own.

Classes are limited to 6 people.
$35 registration fee, and $5 facility rental fee: $40 total
